About
I am a doctoral student in Assyriology at the Center for Canon and Identity Formation (CIF), University of Copenhagen.
In my dissertation I am investigating the use of the Akkadian language outside the Mesopotamian heartland from a sociolinguistic perspective.
I am interested in the mechanisms behind the spread of Akkadian as the lingua franca in the eastern Mediterranean as well as the way the use of Akkadian as a second language affects local communities linguistically and culturally and I am trying to situate the results within a larger framework of lingua franca communication and the Ancient Near East as a linguistic area.
